Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School Mission Statement

At Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School, scholars will be empowered to have choice in how they learn and voice in what they learn. We will provide innovative, individualized instruction that addresses scholar's unique learning styles, cultivates, independent thought, promotes the building of character and enables students to contribute their ideas locally and globally . The Brooklyn Landmark experience  will guide our scholars as they develop their sense of identity and purpose in this world.  We will comprehensively develop citizens who will be decision makers in tomorrow's society.  The Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School scholars will inspire greatness in others, allow their voices to be heard worldwide and create change through their actions and endeavors.  By giving our scholars a choice in how they learn and a voice in what they learn, we are building the foundation of critical thinkers that is needed in the best colleges and the 21st Century workplace.

  • MAY Update

    Happy May,
    I hope that your spring break was restful and enjoyable. To start off, I'd like to give you all a SHOUT OUT. Our attendance is at 93%! Let's keep climbing and end the school year strong. Attendance Matters.
     
    This month, we have so much to look forward to! Our annual Mother's Day celebration will take place on May 10th. There will be a breakfast bar,  music, photo opportunities and an art activity. 
    We'd like as many moms to be in attendance as possible for this great event, which will be co-hosted by the PTA Executive officers. 
     
    During the week of May 13th-17th, selected scholars will be competing in the 2nd annual District 23 Math Madness Competitions. Let's wish them the best as they represent BLES!
     
    I look forward to seeing you all at my final Principal's Coffee Chat and UCS Forum on May 15th. You will hear the current state of the school and give feedback on the 23-24 school year. We value your ideas and suggestions for the upcoming school year and hope that you can make it for this very important session. 
     
    The PTA is hosting our very first COMICON on Saturday May 18th. Come dressed to impress as a comic book character! Participate in workshops and more. For further information, please reach out to the PTA at blespta@brooklynlandmark.org
     
    Our College and Career Week will be held the week of May 20th-24th. Thank you to those parents who signed up with Mrs. Miller-Toomer to be a guest speaker for Career Day on May 22nd. As always, this year's Career Awareness Week promises to be an inspiring and informative opportunity for our scholars. The week will include career focused  field trips and  classroom visits from college students. 
     
    Finally, our Red Carpet Honor Society Ceremony will be held on Thursday May 30th. Scholars are nominated for Gold, Silver or Bronze awards by their teachers. The scholars who are chosen must excel in academics, attendance and core values. If your child is selected, you will receive a letter from Ms. Lino, school counselor starting next week. If you have any questions about the Honor Society ceremony or the nomination process, please reach out to me or your child's teacher.
