Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School Mission Statement

At Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School, scholars will be empowered to have choice in how they learn and voice in what they learn. We will provide innovative, individualized instruction that addresses scholar's unique learning styles, cultivates, independent thought, promotes the building of character and enables students to contribute their ideas locally and globally . The Brooklyn Landmark experience  will guide our scholars as they develop their sense of identity and purpose in this world.  We will comprehensively develop citizens who will be decision makers in tomorrow's society.  The Brooklyn Landmark Elementary School scholars will inspire greatness in others, allow their voices to be heard worldwide and create change through their actions and endeavors.  By giving our scholars a choice in how they learn and a voice in what they learn, we are building the foundation of critical thinkers that is needed in the best colleges and the 21st Century workplace.

    Dear Families,

    We start off the month of May with our annual STAFF appreciation week! Our teachers and staff do incredible, selfless work on a daily basis and are very deserving of this annual recognition. Please don’t forget to acknowledge them from May 5th-9th. 

    Next, I want to shout out all of the parents who have completed the school survey. Your voice matters! Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on our school. 

    May is here and with it comes a whirlwind of school events and activities. I want to highlight a few of them and encourage you to participate, if you can.

    MAY 9- STEAM FAIR- This annual event will happen at the school from 2:30-4:30. Families are invited to come into the school to view Science fair projects and participate in some family fun. 

    MAY 19- MAY 23- COLLEGE & CAREER WEEK at BLES. We are looking for parents who can participate on Wednesday May 21st. You'll speak to your child's class about the work that you do each day for about 20-30 minutes. If you are interested, please reach out to our school counselor, Mrs. Miller-Toomer at janellem@brooklynlandmark.org.

    MAY 22- The United Community Schools Forum will take place at the end of the month. This is a great opportunity for you to reflect on the school year, give your feedback on different areas and help us to make plans for next year. During this forum, a school leader will give the State of the School Address and answer parents' questions. You’ll also meet with over 10 different vendors. For more information, please reach out to Mrs. Vazquez at evelynv@brooklynlandmark.org.

    MAY 29- Parent Teacher Conferences- This virtual event will take place from 4:30-7:30. You will have an opportunity to meet with teachers from your child’s NEXT grade. To get a head start on the 25-26 school year, you don’t want to miss this final PTC. 

    Here are some other important dates to remember:

    • Friday May 2nd- BLES GOT TALENT- Fashion & Talent Show - 5:00-8:00
    • Friday May 9th- Mother’s Day celebration (Stay tuned for details.)
    • Monday May 26th- Memorial Day, Schools closed
